Welcome to High School Band Class Page.

Use this page as a resource for information about upcoming concerts. Email Mr. Haigh if you have questions about band class. There are several activities for practicing your note recognition and key names.

Course Content: The students will continue to build on the skills and knowledge developed during previous years of instrumental music instruction. Units of instruction will include jazz/pop, concert, pep band, and small ensemble performance.

Grading/Assessment: Students will be assessed on their acquisition and understanding of concepts discussed in class on a continual daily basis by Mr. Haigh, the instructor. This assessment will be by direct observation of the student’s participation in class. From time to time, students will receive immediate verbal feedback on their success in this area. This part of the assessment will be considered “daily participation” as noted below. In addition to daily class participation, students will be graded on their attendance at activities found on the band calendar of events. Students will also receive evaluation of their ability in playing their chosen instrument. All points earned will be kept on an accumulative basis through the semester.

40% “Required Emphasis” Performance
25% Athletic Event "School Spirit Emphasis"
10% Playing Evaluation

Extra-Curricular: Students should acquaint themselves with the performances scheduled for the band during the year. It is understood that this class is a performing arts class that will include extra-curricular expectations.

Band Awareness Days: We will be getting a polo shirt to wear on occasion as a group or for casual wear. We wil designate certain days as such and wear them as a group to school. The cost of this shirt will be around $25.00. Use of the Music Booster's student incentive account for its acquisition is encouraged.
