Bonjour Grade 4A Science! We are coming to the end of an exciting Unit on Forms of Energy! We have done over 10 different experiments to learn about how the forms of energy work in our world and to begin to understand the scientific process. We will begin our review on Thursday March 6, 7 and 10. The review will be broken down into the lessons learned from each experiment and the scientific process. They will use the objectives of the unit as a guide to their review. They should be bringing home their duotangs to begin and complete their review starting on Friday March 10th. They need to bring them back every day so that if they have questions or clarification is needed they have their duotangs ready. Our Science test will be March 13th so that even after the review in class, students will have opportunity to ask questions and double check with the teacher. They will be receiving a science experiment to prepare for a mini-science fair to end the unit. At this point, Mme Lucas will prepare them for the science fair. They will be given an explanation for the project to refer to and to help guide them. They may need your assistance to purchase or locate some supplies. We have tried to make this as painless as possible for parents. We want the students to become very excited about the science project as they have loved the in class experiments. They will have an outline of what is expected of them. They will be required to prepare a little oral and written presentation to show and explain while they demonstrate their experiment. From March 11-18th in class they will be working on this project. They will need to gather their materials from home and have enough to show their experiment about 5 times. If you have any questions about the experiement, just call Mme Lucas. The students will do a demonstration of their experiment for the class on March 18th. This will be their practice run. You are invited to view their projects in Our Science FAIR March 19th From 12:00-1:00 p.m. The students will eat a little early that day and then begin preparing. This is a come and go fair so parents may come and see as many experiments as they like. The displays will be available for that hour. The students will be required to show their teacher their experiment for evaluation purposes that day. ( Hence the need to have enough supplies to redo the experiment a few times.) Very exciting! There are many website links on the bottom of this page for your child to explore for fun and learning. Thank you very much and call me at school if you have any questions. We look forward to Mme Jezowski returning from her maternity leave March 31. She will assume all the teaching duties for the grade 4A classroom in the PM as well as the Health class in the am. Your child will have only Mme Bilodeau-Deck and Mme Jezowski in their day after March 31. Have a great few weeks until Easter. Mme Kreese
