3/3/2014: Lent is only a little more than one day away (starts on Ash Wednesday, March 5). Did it sneak up on you? One of the challenges in helping this season of penitence and charity become really effective in life arises when we don't go into Lent with at least some sort of plan for these 40 days. Another SVHS teacher shared this link What to Give Up for Lent: 20 Weird Ideas (by LifeTeen) about some "interesting" things that might contribute to your quest for God during this season. Maybe this will give you something to think about, or a place to start.
To each of you, and to your families, I pray you blessings during this season in which Jesus calls us to enter into works of prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to bring us closer to our God Who has given us so much.
1/6/2014: Please note that the closing of school on Monday 1/6 and Tuesday 1/7 does NOT change the deadlines published for exam review packets being completed. Be aware of your deadlines and be sure to meet them.
1/3/2014: Did you make New Year's resolutions? A writer composed a list of resolutions for Catholics based on the teachings of Pope Francis in the past months. Do any of these resonate with you? New Year's resolutions: The Pope Francis list.
10/31/2013: Tomorrow is All Saints Day - a Holy Day of Obligation. Join the Saint Viator High School faith community in prayer at one of two Masses offered on Friday - before school at 7:30 am and after school at 3:05 pm - in Alumni Memorial Chapel on the 2nd floor. See you there!
9/5/2013: Tonight is Meet the Faculty Night at Saint Viator High School. The evening begins at 7:00pm in Jeuck Auditorium. I look forward to meeting the parents of the students with whom I am working this year. For those who are not able to attend, or who are following up from a night of learning, the basic outline which will be covered in each class can be found on the Meet the Faculty Night page.
8/11/2013: It is worth a try when you go to purchase your religion texts on the Kno website - I received a coupon code for $5 off - enter "FALL13" at checkout on Kno.com to save $5. This expires 8/25/13. (This will be useful for those purchasing the Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth for freshman religion or those purchasing the Catholic Youth Bible for sophomore religion.)
7/16/2013: Hello! Welcome to the 2013-2014 academic year at Saint Viator High School. I have the pleasure of teaching in both the Mathematics and Religion Departments again this year, and am excited to get to know each of you as we learn various topics together - Catholic Faith, Algebra 1 and Geometry.
As the first day of school gets closer, these course pages will change from last year's work to the work of the coming year. Feel free to explore past pages and check back for this year's resources.
See you in August!
