Course Description
Focuses on the component parts of medical terms: prefixes, suffixes and word roots. Students practice formation, analysis and reconstruction of terms. Emphasis on spelling, definition and pronunciation. Introduction to operative, diagnostic, therapeutic and symptomatic terminology of all body systems, as well as systemic and surgical terminology.

This site has a few things to help you get started on the right foot. There are a few lists and some games to practice learning the material. Chapter 1 introduces concepts in building a medical language, Chapter 2 is introductory to body organization and oncology, and Chapter 4 is musculoskeletal and is included to give you an idea of the level and amount of material we will be covering as the semester progresses.
To prepare for the semester:
- Complete Canvas Orientation - https://instructure.com
- look over chapter 1 & 2
- purchase notecards and cut them in half to prepare for making many flashcards (you can punch a hole in the corner to put on rings)
- plan your schedule to include 15-20 hours of studying for this class.
