Solubility Objectives The student will be able to: 1. Define solution, suspension, colloid solvent, solute, miscible, unsaturated, saturated, supersaturated, concentration, like dissolves like, polar, non-polar, molarity, electrolyte, alloy 2. Given a solubility graph, determine whether a solution is unsaturated, saturated or supersaturated. 3. Given a solubility graph, determine how many grams of solute are needed to create a saturated solution. 4. Given a solubilty graph, determine which substance is the least/most soluble. 5. Know how to create a supersaturated solution. 6. Know what is meant by "like dissolves like" 7. Know the effect of temperature and pressure on gas solubility 8. Know the effect of temperature on the solubility of solids in liquids 9. Be able to calculate the molarity of a solution given the number of grams of solute and the volume of the solution. 10. Be able to calculate the number of grams of solute needed to mix a solution of given concentration and volume.
