     
Welcome recruits to the . As your Commander of the Business Barracks, I will provide you with an exploratory foundation in business office administration and support curriculum and knowledge. Through integrated instructional activities, recruits will have opportunities to apply employability skills and to learn about possible career options in the Business cluster. Recruits will complete many hands-on activities to build a strong foundation in integrated software applications and standard office procedures. The curriculum will help recruits to use computers effectively in their life, while providing a connection of computer science and business concepts. This year I look forward to "Training Your Brains for Higher Order Thinking." In order to accomplish my objective, you will undergo three different levels of training (basic, intermediate and advance). Your training will come in different forms; discussions, online activities, demonstrations, projects, assignments, etc. I expect each of you to give 110% during your eighteen week training course because "your output is determined by your input."
You will participate in the following trainings:
Business Foundations: (webquest) Agents will explore multiple career pathways and their interrelatedness. They will become acquainted with the array of careers in society. Recruits will examine educational requirements, job responsibilities, employment trends and opportunities within different career pathways. Recruits will understand concepts and processes associated with successful entrepreneurial performance. Recruits will examine the basics of entrepreneurship and develop a new business idea. Recruits will explain the fundamental concepts of business ownership. Volunteers or guest speakers needed.
Computer Applications: Agents will show mastery of computer application software that encompasses word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and desktop publishing. Skills are demonstrated by creating projects. Recruits will web based software to create, publish and present an Individual Career Plan (ICP) reflecting their personal traits and values. Agents will utilize Microsoft Excel to create graphs and charts to display their income and expenses from operating their online business (lemonade stand). Recruits will utilize Microsoft PowerPoint to design business presentations. Recruits will utilize web base games and activities to learn and obtain vital information to prepare for periodic evaluations and complete assignments/projects.
21st Century Skills:
Recruits will demonstrate employability skills such as working on a team, problem solving and organizational skills. Recruits will develop and model employability skills. Recruits will exhibit critical thinking and participate in a variety of activities that demonstrate 21st century employability skills.
Literacy in the Content: Recruits will enhance reading and writing in all curriculum areas. Recruits will use research and technology to support writing. Recruits will use the writing the process to develop, revise and evaluate writing. Recruits will build vocabulary knowledge.
