Portfolio Activities – a brief outline summary
1 One or two examples of ICT resources that you have used to meet specific curriculum objectives (eg Literacy or maths not ICT objectives).
You could use a CDRom, an activity off the Internet, or a specific program. (ie An ICT resource that someone else has created; you don’t need to create anything new here). Say what makes it particularly appropriate for the objectives you’ve set.
2 As in Portfolio Activity 1 but include planning documents and recording & assessment opportunities etc.
3 Create a resource yourself using ICT.
EG See the Textease examples to download on the
Lancashire Literacy Activities & Resources Site and create something similar.
4 This is about the teacher using ICT to present a new topic to the whole class (if you have a projector/large screen), or to a smaller group eg in the guided section of the Literacy Hour. You could use or create a PowerPoint Presentation (see examples to download at LGfL PowerPoint files ) Or, you could use/create (eg) a simple function machine in a spreadsheet to demonstrate a specific mathematical process, or use a WP to model redrafting of text. NB You could use a resource already created by somebody else, or the one that you created for PA3.
The programs off the ‘Using ICT in Mathemetics’ CDRom might be useful. (Some of those programs can also be downloaded from The DfES Numeracy Site
Another maths site useful for presenting a new topic is www.Teachingtime.co.uk
5 Reflecting on the use of ICT. Can you monitor and assess children’s progress in a curriculum subject even when it’s masked by the use of ICT? eg Do you consider the content of a child’s poster created using ICT or are you just impressed by the number of flashy features used!?
6 Case study of special needs child/group. Eg Using Word Banks to support writing across different curriculum areas.
Eg Using Clicker 4 Clicker grids for Learning
See also these Special Needs sections: Lancsngfl SEN section and the
SEN section of the Literacy site
7 Computer Use Policies. Whole School Policy and individual code of practice for each class/year group. Discuss first as a whole staff/then with children. Document the process. Have a look at the NAACE Acceptable use policies from the Download section of the Lancs intranet
8 Any of those things you do on the computer on a regular basis eg class lists, labels, planning documents, reports, certificates, letters etc.
9 Leave this until the end. Action Planning. What do I do/need next? Fill in 2 or 3 actions in the grid provided. NB Success criteria must relate to children’s achievements.
