Week of April 9-April 13

Welcome back from spring break and welcome to the fourth quarter!
It is so nice to be back to teaching and I am looking forward to a successful end of the year and preparation for the final exam.

Monday 4/9/18
Today we will start the new unit which is the city and related topical material. These are the places in the city, directions on getting around the city and some related professions to the places. The new vocabulary will be filled out in class today.
Homework for Monday:
Write ten sentences using two vocabulary words in each sentence. They must be original sentences. The vocabulary words should be underlined. Do not use a translating site. Write the sentence in Spanish first and then write the English translation below it. The sentences will be collected so should be neat and originals!

Tuesday 4/10/18
Do some speaking practice reviewing some of the preterit and imperfect tense with some of the unit vocabulary.
Complete the last part of the vocabulary ditto and do some samples of how to give directions. For example:
Debes doblar a la derecha. Debes doblar a la izquierda.
Necesitas seguir derecho.
Work sheets pages 76 and 77 which correspond to the textbook pages 260 and 261.
Homework: Do a 50 point vocabulary man using 25 words. Mark off the words used so that you can use different words next time.
Wednesday 4/11/18
Today we take a look at some famous Spanish plazas and some other famous plazas (squares) around the world.
Review the worksheets from yesterday and stress all the vocabulary.
Read the long reading passage from Dos Pasos Adelante, page 60 Barrio de la Boca.
No homework tonight

Thursday 4/12/18
Speaking and writing practice with the following sample sentence. Change the place and the verb that follows the preposition para. The first part of the sentence is the independent clause and the second part of the sentence is the dependent clause.
Continue with the reading comprehension Barrio de la Boca and complete the questions that follow.
Finish the question sheet if you do not complete it in class.
Period 7 Project due tomorrow (When I was young)

Friday 4/13/18
Speaking/Writing: Invite a friend to go to the town square with you. Go over all the possibilities.
Review the reading comprehension and the answers to Barrio de la Boca.
Distribute the other vocabulary dittos and ask students to go to the section with lugares. Have them write down an activity that they do at that place. Do ten and the rest will be for next week.
Assign the brochure that will be due next Friday. Ask them to pick a city over the weekend. This is the only homework.

Week of April 16-April 20

Monday 4/16/18
Worksheet for the city: Adverbios y preposiciones de lugar
Complete the lugares importantes section of the vocabulary dittos by listing a phrase that goes with each place. It must be completed in class or you will have to finish it for homework.

Tuesday 4/17/18
Read email from Luis to Miguel and write a response email. Dos Pasos Adelante p.68. Show students how to do a read to write task. Collect for a class work grade.
Check homework and begin to review some of the verb phrases we looked up and learned.
Homework: Do a second vocab. man with 25 different words (50 point section).

Wednesday 4/18/18
pp. 266-267 text Paso a Paso_Go over the vocabulary for the pharmacy and the department store. Do the corresponding workbook pp.77-78.
Complete all the verbs that go with the places in the city.
The homework is to begin to study for the vocabulary quiz on Friday.

Thursday 4/19/18
Mapa de Centrovilla- Give students directions to some places on the map.
Have students in groups of two give me a directions to a place on the map.
Bingo board with vocabulary from the city.
Study for vocabulary quiz.

Friday 4/20/18
Community and directions vocabulary quiz.
Give tips for the brochure due Monday. Check out some travel websites and possible cities.
City brochure due Monday.

Monday 4/23/18
Guided writing about your city (master 4-Gracias por tu carta).
Do speaking with master 4
Master 11 Lugares favoritos
Complete master 11 for homework if not completed.

Tuesday 4/23/18
Masters 17 Las profesiones. Master 22 Buscando trabajo. Master21 Un inventario de gustos y habilidades. Work with a partner to complete the dittos having to do with professions with descriptions; your talents and characteristics; and looking for a job.

Wednesday 4/24/18
Review the work completed yesterday in a speaking format. Use points. If you do not like to speak in class you should come after school and work with me one on one.

Thursday 4/25/18
Snippets of the school play.

Friday 4/26/18
Give the speaking for the community chapter. This will include directions, the city and talking about a job and where you would like to work. You will have time to work on it today and we will review the possibilities. Next week we will do the speaking one on one. You will earn points to your test and to your speaking participation grade. You can begin to study this over the weekend.
Week of Monday April 30-Friday May 4, 2018
This week we are working on the future tense of regular and irregular verbs. We will complete a packet that has both. We will watch the Jordan videos for the regular and irregular future tense also. We begin to compare the use of the present tense and the future tense and using the IR + A + infinitive.

We will do the speaking questions for the community unit. You will be given a situation or task and come up with ideas of what to say in Spanish. After we review check google classroom as it will be posted for you to study.

We will also read an article this week from El Sol magazine. The title of the article is Quien hace mi ropa? It speaks about the true cost of buying inexpensive clothing and how the fashion industry has exploited children and workers in developing countries. There will be a worksheet with the vocabulary and the personal questions that correspond to the article.

Week of May 7-May 11

Monday 5/7
Review some important questions in the present and past tense.
Get into partners to write a dialogue about what you did over the week-end or making plans/invitation for the week-end to come.

YOU MUST STUDY THE SPEAKING FOR COMMUNITY! GO ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT.
Tuesday 5/8
Due to teacher absence students may study speaking with a partner.

Wednesday 5/9
Begin speaking test for community. Do packet work for professions. Master 17, Master 18, Master 19 (only define the professions), Master 33.
Complete packets for homework if not completed in class.

Thursday 5/10
Continue speaking for community test. Collect the packets for professions. Future tense packets. I will explain exercises A and B. You will only need to do these two exercises. Look out for the irregular verbs in the future tense and also look for reflexives. Complete for homework.
