CHOLET UPDATE - October 27, 2008

Bonjour!

Here are a few items to help you through the final week of the exchange. If you still have unanswered questions, please let me know.

Tuesday - Pittsburgh & Meals: The lunch plans for Tuesday are flexible. Lunches may be purchased in restaurants in the Strip District, or lunches can be packed. We finish the Warhol visit right at noon. Students can eat a packed lunch while on the bus or wait until they get dropped off in the strip District.

Dinner brings another choice. After stopping at the Grove City Outlets, we should be back to Fairview around 6:30 or 7:00. Therefore, you could have dinner after we return, or students may grab something at the food court. You may want to decide on Monday and let your students know what you prefer.

Wednesday - Cleveland: Again, what to do about lunch is up to you and the students. After we leave the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we will go to the Tower City Mall. Students may purchase a lunch in the food court, or eat their packed lunch in the food court. Our target return time is 6 pm. so dinner with the families is safe to plan.

Thursday - Farewell Dinner This will take place in the FHS cafeteria. We will open the doors at around 5:30. At that time, you can bring in whatever you have and we should be ready to eat by 6:00.

All host families are invited. Also, throughout the two weeks they have been here, many students who are not hosting have become friends with the "Choletais". If you know any such people, please let them know that they are invited, too.

This will be a tureen style dinner. I'd like to divide the food types among the hosts families alphabetically. So here's a reminder on the meal breakdown. If the host family's last name begins with A-K, please bring a main dish and salad-type dish. If you are L-Z, please bring a main dish and dessert-type dish. Of course, if you have a specialty that is not what you are scheduled to bring, feel free to do that instead. I'm sure we won't end up with 26 desserts and no main courses (although, that might not be bad).

The French Club will take care of plates, knives, forks spoons, napkins, and soft drinks. If you think we are over looking something, let me know.

The podium and microphone will also be set up and a few speeches will be given after dinner. If any of you would like to say a few words to the group, you will have the opportunity.

Also, I will try to provide enough electrical power (extension cords, power strips, etc.). If you are bringing something electric (like a roasting pan or a crock pot), you may want to bring a powerstrip just in case.

Saturday - Departure:

As you know, our guest will leave FHS early SATURDAY morning. The bus must leave by 3:00 am (so they can catch their 6:30 flight). So please be sure to arrive by 2:45 am so there is enough time to load the luggage, take pictures, say goodbye, etc.

I think that's it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Merci!
