CHOLET UPDATE - October 17, 2010 - "Latest Numbers & The Riviera"

239 DAYS TO DEPARTURE!!

Bonjour, les voyageurs et les parents!

It's been a while since the last official update (though the brief e-mail updates have been steady) and so much has happened and will happen soon. Here's what I want to share today.

And then there were 14. I received word last night that one more person has registered. Welcome aboard Kelli Rossman! I know of one or two more who are still considering it. So if you're wondering who has signed on, we have: Sophomores: Allison Boncella, Megan Cooper, Brigid Louis, Sara Matczak, Krysta Wagner; Juniors: Alex Borowski, Lauren Cooper, Christine Wilson; Seniors: Nick Ingram, Corey Kinsel, Kara Mihalic, Kelli Rossman, Kevin Steehler, Stephen Steehler.

Côte d'Azur - Oui ou Non? As you know, this trip has an optional two-day extension to La Côte d'Azur (The French Riviera). It's just about time for us to decide whether or not the group will add this extension. I will try, as accurately as possible, to present the "pros & cons" of the extension. We will add this option only if the vote is 100% in favor. I figure we can vote via e-mail, and I'd like the vote to come from the parents.

June is a beautiful time to visit. If we go, you will have a chance to travel from Paris to Nice on the TGV (French for "Really Fast Train"), visit the Riviera's "rocky" beaches (no sand, but big flat stones), swim in the Mediterranean Sea, visit Nice's "Old City" (La Vieille Ville), visit Eze, a "perched village", tour a nearby perfume factory called Fragonard, and take an excursion to Monaco.

One con is, of course, the cost. This extension would add $495 to your program fee. The other con would be time. You may not be able to fit two more days.

As I have said to some of you, if you were hoping for the extension, but the group chooses not to take it, I GUARANTEE YOU WILL STILL LOVE THE TRIP!!

Parents, if you have decided, please e-mail me your choice. Once I have the decision, I will announce it to you. Any future enroller will know what the group's decision is and will need to agree to it. Although this update is not just going to the travelers (also to the "maybes"), I am only accepting votes from the parents of students who have enrolled.

I have more to discuss, but this update is getting long. I'll save those items for a future update.

I met Garrett. As you may know, I was out of school on Friday to attend a PSMLA conference (Foreign Language teachers from all over PA came to Erie). While there, I had the opportunity to meet in person our EF Tour Consultant Garrett Pollard. This is the ninth student trip I have organized, but only the second time I have ever met my TC in person.

Au revoir!

Monsieur
