CHOLET UPDATE - March 12, 2011 - "Good news, bad news, then just good news"

93 DAYS TO DEPARTURE!!

Bonjour, les voyageurs et les parents!

I apologize for the fact that it has been so long since the last update. Yes, I have had a very busy winter. But actually, there hasn't really been too much for me to report, either. However, in the past three days we have received two important pieces of news - one good, one bad.

The bad news (and you may have already been contacted by EF), due to the increasing fuel costs, your departure fee has been increased by $97. As you'll recall, all rates we discussed at the beginning of this process were guaranteed by EF with the exception of the departure fee. I'm sorry to have to break that news to you.

The good news is that we now have our official departure date, and it is our first choice, Monday, June 13. On Monday, June 20, we will leave Cholet and start the EF tour in Paris. I have informed Madame Bouvier and she has already begun solidifying our plans during the homestay. We will spend one day at Futuroscope and an entire day and evening at Puy du Fou - Grand Parc during the day, Cinéscénie after dark. YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

Teresa's Coupons If you have not done so already, PLEASE, return the money you collected from selling the coupons (minus your profit - keep that part!). Also, please return any unsold coupons. It is very important that these not enter into circulation. If coupons with your assigned numbers are redeemed, you will be held responsible for them.

Future fundraiser I won't say more until it becomes official, but there may be another fund raiser on the way. I'll get back to you when more is known.

Passports If you haven't done so already, please get the ball rolling on Passport applications. When you have your passport, please bring it to me so I can photocopy it. Doing this serves three purposes: (1) I'll know you have your passport [and I'll be more at ease]; (2) I'll bring these photocopies on the trip, and give each of you a copy or two. Some places may accept these copies as ID, thereby reducing your need to constantly remove your passports from their "safe hiding places" while in public; (3) If you were to lose your passport, the renewal process goes more quickly when I have the copies with me. So far I've only had to resort to this one time. (I've taken students abroad eight times.)

Student Meetings I will soon start meeting with the students to discuss the places we'll visit and a lot of useful information. I will conduct these during tutorial and/or after school. The first meeting date will be announced soon.

That's it for now!
