Hello Host Families (and potential host families)!
Remember the Main Page! If you are one of the new host families (or if you've been with us for a while and forgot), remember the 2011 Cholet Exchange Home Page is where to go to find all the information you need. Today I added a link to the calendar. I plan to attach that calendar to the e-mail that gets you to this update. The calendar also lists other activities happening at school. If you know of others you'd like me to add, let me know.
Everybody has a home!. Thanks to a few willing families this past week, the final two Cholet students now have homes. The updated list can be found here.
Farewell Dinner - October 27 Just some advanced notice on this - if you need a few weeks to consider what to bring. This will be a tureen style dinner. I'd like to divide the food types among the hosts families alphabetically. So here's a reminder on the meal breakdown. If the host family's last name begins with A-L, please bring a main dish and salad-type dish. If you are M-Z, please bring a main dish and dessert-type dish. Of course, if you have a specialty that is not what you are alphabetically requested to bring, feel free to bring that instead. I'm sure we won't end up with 26 desserts and no main courses (although, that might not be bad).
Get / Stay in touch I know many of you have (and some haven't) been in frequent contact with your guests. It really does work out well if you feel like you know each other when you meet in person for the first time. Be sure they know about your family, pets, activities you are involved in and what you have planned for them while they're here. Find out which of their classmates are their friends and plan to do things together - even if the FHS host is not someone you know well. Sometimes you may make a new friend from Fairivew that you had never had the chance to become acquainted with before.
Excursions Don't forget that as hosts, you get first dibs on joining the Choletais on the excursions. The deadline to sign up (before I open it up to non-hosts) is coming soon. See the link on the main page.
