CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE - October 12, 2011 - "A few almost last minute items"
2 DAYS UNTIL THE CHOLETAIS ARRIVE!
Dear Host Families,
A few items to go over:
Arrival on Friday: The target time for arrival at FHS from the Buffalo Airport is in the 7:00 - 7:15 range. If you get to the FHS cafeteria around 6:45 - 7:00, you should be fine. The French Club is organizing a brief reception (cookies and drinks). The students handling that will be in the cafeteria around 6:30.
Donations - miscellaneous things: In the past we have asked for donations of “little freebies”, simple items that have a local connection (pencils, magnets, etc.). We’d like to try that again. We would collect enough so that each Cholet guest could get one of each item. If you have access to any such items, please feel free to bring something in. Note, we’re not asking you to go buy something (but you can if you wish). This is strictly voluntary. We will pass these out to our guests at some point in time. (If I had included this in an earlier update, we could have passed these out upon arrival.) Merci!
Change in Departure Time (October 28). There has been a change in the Buffalo to Newark flight on October 28. The Choletais are now on Continental flight 4787 leaving Buffalo at 6:08am. Since it is recommended that they arrive 90 minutes in advance, we will shift our departure out of FHS from 3:00 to 2:30 am. True, you’ll need to be here 30 minutes earlier. But, on the bright side, you may end up back home and in bed 30 minutes earlier, too.
Bus Passes. Your French student will get to and from school the same way you do. If you take the school bus, you need to get a pass for your French guest. I have those ready for you. One pass should be sufficient per student. (In the past we needed one pass for each day!) Please be sure to get one from me between now and the time you leave the welcome reception.
Phone chains. The phone chains are attached to the e-mail that alerted you to this update. I also have printed version if you prefer to pick one up from me.
