CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – July 31, 2014
(319 days!!!)
Dear Travelers, Potential Travelers and Parents,
Fund raising [part 1]
The French and Spanish clubs will hold their joint Cookie Dough Fund Raiser starting Monday, September 2. This sale will last two weeks. As you may know, if you are a student on this trip, the profit from your indiviual sales does not go to the clubs but rather to you as a fund raiser for this trip. The cookie dough sale has been very profitable to many over the years. Start to think of potential customers now.
This offer on profit is only good for the students who have enrolled in the trip. If you are one of the “maybes”, you may want to make your decision soon so that you can take advantage of this.
Fund raising [part 2] A reminder, this is the only fund raiser that I will personally organize. Unfortunately, I don’t have much spare time to do more. However, if any parents wanted to coordinate something, that’d be great. Earlier this year Mrs. Williams got the ball rolling on the sale of Pulakos candy bars. I can assist you in your efforts in terms of getting the word out to everyone. So if you have any idea, feel free to let me know and I’ll tel the others (unless you don’t mind making those contacts yourself).
Latest list of travelers
At last count, there are ten students enrolled: Steve Arnold, Alicia Craig, Emily Lander, David Nelson, Flori Porter, Mia Sitzler, Ty Sornberger, Sara Stroup, Natasha Williams and Simon Yahn. If you know of any other “maybes”, see if they or their parents would like ot meet with me.
“Tentative dates” In the world of student travel organizations, we (teacher/group leaders) always choose “tentative” dates. We say “tentative” because the date could change. This is because the companies (in our case, EF) try to accomodate as many groups as possible. Our tentative departure date is June 15. Let’s say another group traveling with EF is taking our same tour package (Paris and the Chateaux) and their target date is June 19. To simplify things, EF may book flights on June 17.
The most EF will move us is four days, either before or after our date. So in theory, we could leave as early as June 11 (returning June 26), or as late as June 19 (returning July 4). I have had trips in the past where we have shifted our date, and trips where we haven’t. We won’t know our finalized dates until after the start of 2015.
I have informed EF that we want to spend one weekend in Cholet and don’t want to arrive on a Saturday. I’m confident that we will gat what we want in that regard.
