CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – June 5, 2015

Dear Parents and Travelers,
Just a few items to bring up, none of which involve asking you for money! (Though a couple of you still owe me. I’ll contact you individually.)
Departure On the morning of June 18, our bus to the Cleveland airport will leave the FHS north parking lot (the cafeteria side) at 9:00. Again, that’s when we want the bus to leave the parking lot. Please arrive early enough for everyone to load their luggage on the bus, hug & kiss & say goodbye, pose for some pictures and (very important) show me your passports. It would be awful to arrive in Cleveland and THEN realize you forgot yours. (This did happen once. Not on a French trip, but a Spanish trip to Mexico. One student and one teacher had to join the tour a day late.) For international flights it is recommended that we arrive at the airport three hours in advance. Our flight from Cleveland to Detroit is scheduled to leave at 1:35, so leaving FHS at 9:00 is very important.
Flight Change There is one change to report and it pertains to our July 3 flight out of Paris. Originally we were to take off from Paris at 10:35 am, land at JFK around 1 pm, then catch a flight to Cleveland and land around 5. Now we leave Paris at 8:30 am, arrive in Atlanta just after noon, wait about 5 hours and out flight to Cleveland lands at 7:35. The bus should get back to Fairview around 9:30 pm. By the way, if you’re wondering, we have found a solution to the problem involving Simon’s flight change. We can all ride the TGV together!
Parent Phone Numbers I don’t plan to often, but I will send a text to all parents on at least two occasions. The first will be to let you all know that we have landed safely in France. (However, since that will be approximately 2:00 am in Fairview, just let me know if you’d rather not have that call.) The second will be once we touchdown in the US on July 3. I don’t plan to send others, but I will if the need arises. The procedure: I will send a text to two parents (Mrs. Beaver and Mrs. Sitzler – thank you for agreeing to do this) who will relay my message to all remaining parents. You all will have my number, too. I will do a practice run after I get the numbers out to you. I have already collected all student numbers except one. They also have mine.
Facebook Page I have created a Facebook page called Fairview-Cholet Exchange 2015. While we are in France, I will post pictures and videos. On past trips, parents have enjoyed seeing these and knowing that their kids are OK. If you are on Facebook, feel free to request to be a member. The first time I tried this, many parents (and other relatives) chose not to join until we had already arrived in France.
