CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – April 2, 2017

I have a four items to mention.
1. Next meeting – Monday Remember, we have a meeting this Monday during tutorial. I will resume the long list of items to cover that I started at our last meeting. I will plan a parent meeting very soon. Parents, if you have questions you’d like to send me in advance, or any specific topics you’d like me to address, please let me know.
2. Flight info Our flight information has been set. It is as follows. If there are any changes I will let you know. All flights are on United Airlines.
Wednesday, June 14 – Thursday, June 15
Flight 1857 leaves Cleveland, OH at 5:15 pm and lands in Newark, NJ at 6:59 pm
Flight 54 leaves Newark, NJ at 9:45 pm and lands in Paris Charles de Gaulle [Terminal 1] at 10:55 am
Thursday, June 29
Flight 56 leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle [Terminal 1] at 9:45 am and lands in Newark, NJ at 11:55 am
Flight 1898 leaves Newark, NJ at 2:30 pm and lands Cleveland, OH at 4:10 pm
3. TGV train ride As I mentioned when we first started this process, I needed to wait for our flight information before arranging our transportation from Paris to Cholet on June 15, and from Cholet to Paris on June 22. I can now do that. We will travel by train since that will be much more economical than a bus for our small group of 9. I will look into the prices and book. In 2015 the cost was $74 round trip for each student. I don’t expect the 2017 cost to be much different, but I will know this week. Since I am charging this on my credit card, I will need your payment soon afterward. Thank you in advance.
4. Tip money On a related note, I will also need to collect tip money soon. I plan to do this in a few weeks. Here’s how this works: We give tip to our EF Tour Director (who will be with us non-stop from June 22 until June 29 taking care of a lot! Click here to see what. ). That tip is $6 per person per day. We will tip our bus driver $3 per person per day. We will also give tips to our local guides ($1 or $2 depending on the length of the tour). I will soon calculate the total amount our group needs. From that I will subtract an amount that the French Club will donate. The remaining total will be divided evenly by you. I’ll let you know when I'm ready to collect that. It should happen in early May.
