CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE –June 14, 2019

72 heures!
(yes, we're that close we can now count the hours!)

Dear Travelers and Families,

Just a few "nearly" last minute items and reminders.

Packing/Preparing:

Don't wrap your gifts for your hosts. Even though you will pack them in your suitcases, there is still a chance that TSA will unwrap them as they inspect your bag. If you want to wrap the gifts, you can pack the wrapping paper, tape, scissors and take car of it after you arrive in Cholet. Or, better yet, just bring a gift bag.

While in flight, some liquid items in your luggage might open unexpectedly, get squished, leak, explode (toothpaste, shampoo, shaving cream, etc.). You may want to put these items into their own zip lock bags. You may also want to pack a few band aids, too, just in case.

Remember the 50 pound weight limit for luggage! You can bring one suitcase, one carry-on and one small personal item bag that needs to fit under these seat in front of you.

Remember the "3-1-1" rule for packing liquids in your carry-on. Check here. If you want to bring any liquids larger than 3.4 ounces, pack them in your suitcase. If you have any liquids larger than 3.4 ounces with you after your bags are checked, security will have you throw it out. If it is a beverage, finish drinking it before you get to security.

Monday:

Remember your passports!!! We will not leave FHS until I have seen everyone's passport. (Feel free to ask to see mine.)
You can arrive at around 11 am at the FHS north parking lot (cafeteria side). We'll load the luggage into the bus and van (filling the van before we use the back of the bus), take some pictures (especially GROUP PICTURE #1 - there will be many others over the next two weeks!), make sure everyone has their passports, hug, kiss, cry, say goodbye, etc. We hope to hit the road by 11:30.

I'll probably do one last test of the remind.com for parents before we leave. Parents can give me a "thumbs up" to let me know they got the message. I'll do the same for the students on the bus right after we leave FHS.

To load the luggage, we'll need students to volunteer - somebody passing the suitcases into a vehicle and another student inside the vehicle to neatly organize the bags.

Miscellaneous:

I have the name (Stéphane) and phone number of our Tuesday bus driver. I'll contact him as soon as we are all set to leave CDG. Once we pull out of CDG, I'll contact Mme Pineau in Cholet and update her as we get closer.

The day-by-day schedule can be found on the calendar of our main page .

A detailed itinerary of the EF portion of the trip can be found here.

I think that's all the important stuff for now. If you have any last minute questions, let me know. Otherwise. À LUNDI!
