CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – July 15, 2019

11 jours! (after our return)

Dear Experienced World Travelers,

This is a just a follow-up along with reminders about the trip and the exchange.

First off, once again, thanks for being great! With the exception of the very last full day, you were all on time for everything. You made the most out of the experience. To the best of my knowledge, you did nothing to jeopardize the future of the Cholet Exchange, and when necessary, you rolled with it. True, not everything went our way. Not getting to the top of the Eiffel Tower (Berthillon’s is no longer a priority for me – according to Sam Z, we spent 90 minutes there), not getting up close to the Arc de Triomphe, having to rush through the Louvre were all things I wish I could change for you. But despite all of the things that didn’t go right, hopefully what DID go right will lead you to feel that this was the trip of a lifetime. I know that only a few of you are on Facebook, so you may not have seen what I wrote the next day. Check with your parents or anyone else who is part of the FB page for 2019. You may also enjoy re-living the trip via what was posted by me, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Wegner (and two students) throughout the 18 days. If you are part of the group, you can still add pictures or comments. MERCI! You were great!

On a related note, I did create an Instagram account (fhsmonsieur) before the trip, but never used it. I don’t know much about how Instagram works yet, but if you are willing and able to share some of your pictures with me that way (is that even possible??), please do.

Jordane At the end of the trip, Jordane invite me to pass his e-mail address on to you. So if you want to thank him one more time, or ask questions about France, here it is: J.Pineuau.1124@ef.com. By the way, he is also a member of our Facebook page, so you could contact him that way, too. Not that it will work, but I will request that he be our TD in 2021.

October We still have a handful of Cholet students without host families. You can see the list if you click here. Now that you have had the chance to meet them, maybe you know of a Fairview student who would be the perfect match. It may be someone who hasn’t even considered hosting. It may even be someone who doesn’t take French. If you could do me one favor, see if you can talk that person into hosting. You’d be surprised at the impression you’d make by saying to someone, “I met ___ over the summer and I think you would be the perfect host!” Please refer them to that page and encourage them to contact me when they’ve decided. Merci!

EF Reviews Before we traveled, you may have looked at some of the reviews for Paris, Normandy and Brittany left by past travelers. (If not, you can see them here.) One was even left by one of my 2017 students after we returned. The good news is YOU CAN WRITE ONE TOO! The bad news is, I can’t figure out how, so I can’t tell you how. But maybe you can figure it out. I’m betting it’s something you have access to while you are logged in to your EF account. I’ll keep working in it. I look forward to seeing some of your comments there!

That’s it! This will most likely the final update for the June, 2019 portion of the exchange.

Au revoir!
