CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – September 7, 2019

Bonjour, Host Families,
Just a few quick items in today’s update.
1. REMIND.COM for parents For the summer trip I created a remind.com account for parents. I was planning to create a new account for October, but decided to just use the same one. I changed the name to Cholet Exchange 2019 – Parents. If you joined in June, you are all set. If you (parents) are not a part of the group, please join by clicking this link . Once everyone is in the group, I will do a practice run. I will use this pretty much just to let you know our ETA’s as the bus is on the way from the airport on October 11 and on the way back to school after the excursions. All other important info will be in these QUIA.COM updates and/or through schoology. If you were a part of the 2017 group, this account is different and you must join Cholet Exchange 2019 – Parents.
2. WHATSAPP.COM for students Like the REMIND.COM account for parents, I am creating a WHATSAPP account for the students. It’s not set yet, but will be soon (unless I can’t figure it out and just go with remind.com – I’m experimenting with both). I’ll get back to you.
3. FACEBOOK page There is a Facebook page called Fairview-Cholet Exchange 2019. Please consider joining it. Each year I create this page for the benefit of the Fairview parents so they can see what their kids are up to in June. Many Cholet parents joined in June. Then I keep it going so that parents in Cholet can do the same. You are invited to join and to contribute pictures throughout the exchange. You can find the direct link here .
4. Excursions: deadline soon Hosts have first dibs on the excursions until September 10. After that, I will publicize to the entire school. Since the Cleveland itinerary is not yet set, I will delay publicizing that one to the school. All information can be found here . Your spot is reserved as soon as you pay me and turn in your permission slip. [True story from past exchanges: Students (hosts and non-hosts) have come to me after the Cholet students have arrived asking (begging) to sign up for the trips. I have to say “no” if reservations needed to be made in advance (Pittsburgh, Cleveland) or if there is no more space available. Don’t let that happen to you! ]
5. Niagara Falls / PSAT testing I see we have a conflict with our excursion to Niagara Falls taking place on October 16, the same day juniors are required to take the PSAT. I need to know if any juniors have chosen not to sign up because of the testing. If this applies to you, let me know. I will check to see if an alternate date for testing can be used. If you’re a junior who wants to go on this trip, go ahead and reserve your spot. I will refund you if we can’t get you out of the PSAT.
