CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – May 13, 2022
31 JOURS!
Dear Travelers and Parents,
Yes, we are exactly one month away from our departure date of June 13! It’s tough to say how many more meetings I’ll be able to have with the students. I’ll post a few updates to address things that can be explained in writing. Don’t hesitate to ask for clarification. I’ll try not to let them get too long. I’ll try to keep them short, but send more frequently. I also hope to plan a meeting for all parents who would like one. More information is on the way. In today’s update I will focus on reminders from past meetings.
Reminders and updates from past meetings: If you have not already done so, please remember to:
-- give me your EF Traveler Health & Medical Information (which I gave to the students – you may scan and email)
-- give me you Student Behavior Contract (which I also gave to the students, again, you may scan and email)
-- check with your banks or AAA regarding exchanging euros before we leave – not too many (even 50€ is sufficient to start). If cash is lost or stolen, it’s gone. Students will have the opportunity to get cash at ATMs in France.
-- VERY IMPORTANT Notify your bank that your credit cards will be in use in France. If you don’t, the credit card company may get suspicious to see overseas transactions and then may cancel the card.
-- Tips I do not see a French Club meeting on the horizon. Therefore the club members will not have chance to vote on donating to the tips fund. Therefore the amount that I mentioned at our most recent meeting ($96 per person) will stand. You may pay by check (made out to Robert Hall , in cash or via PayPal. My Paypal account is set up through fhsmonsieur@gmail.com.
-- Electric converters and adapters It’s been a while since I mentioned this to the students. Be sure that what you buy takes care of both needs. The adapter merely allows your plug to fit into the European outlet (the holes are different, the plugs we use here can’t be plugged into European outlets without the converter). It may or may not convert the electricity (the voltage in France is higher – without a converter your device may blow up or be badly damaged). Check the package.
One item we have not said much about: Phone Numbers: This is for both students and parents. Please send a text to me (814-392-4524) with your name. I will keep two groups on my phone, one for students and one for parents. During the last two exchanges (June and October) I’ve used the Remind app and WhatsApp. But with a group as small as ours, regular chat groups should be sufficient.
That’s all for today!
Monsieur
