CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – September 21, 2022

(22 days!!!)

Hello Host Families,

I have six items for you today.

1. Marie has a host! (I was happy to completely rewrite this paragraph after we found our final host family!) Many thanks to the Mullett family who offered to take Marie! And of course (I will never be able to say this enough) my continued, undying gratitude to ALL OF YOU who will host!

2. Gift Bags One tradition that we have had over the years (and that I have failed to mention so far) is presenting gift bags to the Cholet guests. Nothing expensive or extravagant - just things that are local or unique to our area. If you can acquire items that can be donated or purchased at a low cost (trinkets, candy, pencils, pens, magnets, stickers, bags, etc.) let me know. We’ll get them together and distribute them some time - probably at the farewell dinner.

3. T-shirts Another tradition, also at the farewell dinner, is to give t-shirts to our guests. If any hosts would also like to buy one, we will take orders. (It’d be nice to give free t-shirts to the hosts, but that would more than double our costs.) If any of you would like to design this year’s t-shirt, let me know. If we select your design, you get a free t-shirt!

4. Early Release, RCI, etc. In Monday’s update, I mentioned early release students. This also applies to leaving for other reasons (RCI, sporting event, work release, etc.) Please arrange with some other FHS student to be with your Cholet guest and to arrange transportation as needed.

5. Parent Meeting A few of you have asked if there will be a meeting prior to the arrival of the Choletais. I was not planning to have one, hoping that the updates would be sufficient. However, if there is enough of a demand for one, I’ll be happy to arrange something, whether it be in person or via Google Meets. Let me know if you would like to meet. Of course, keep the questions coming.

6. Mercyhurst Lastly for today, the Director of Events and Undergraduate Admissions of Mercyhurst University contacted me about having some students from Cholet and Fairview spend a day on the MU campus. I replied to let her know that there are only three days where we could plan this (October 25, 26, 27). I also said “no guarantee” since our time is limited. I will let you know how this develops.

That’s all for this update!

Merci!
Monsieur
