The next tutorial meeting will be this Thursday, March 2. I’ll cancel this week’s Speech & Debate meeting.
Calendar The calendar you see at the top of the Updates Page and the Main Page now includes specific information regarding the trip. You can now see what we are doing day-by-day.
Money Matters 1: Train and Tips As you know, the April 6 train from Angers to Paris will cost you $65 per person. (Thanks to those of you who have already paid!) I have calculated the tip money for the trip. I will explain later, if you are interested. That total comes to $87 per person except for Michael and Cheri who will owe $84 each. (There’s a $3 per person tip for the bus driver taking us from CDG to Cholet on March 30.)
If you have already paid me for the train, you will only owe me $87. If you have not paid for the train, your total is $152. The options for paying me are the same as before. You could pay me in cash, by check payable to Robert Hall, or through PayPal at fhsmonsieur@gmail.com. Merci! The $65 will be deposited into my personal account since I have already paid for the train out of my own pocket. The $87 for tips will be placed in a separate account that I will set up through a AAA credit card. I will use that to withdraw money from ATMs to cover the tips.
Money Matters 2: Bus from CDG to Cholet The estimate on the bus ride is 2200 euros (approximately $2340 today - the exchange rate changes daily). I will apply the French Club donation of $700 to that, leaving a balance of $1640. Rounding up a bit, I’ll ask for $72 per person. Please write that check to Fairview School District. In an effort to expedite and simplify the process a bit, the district has agreed to pay the bus company in France and we, the travelers, will reimburse the FSD.
Parent meetings I will schedule two parent meetings. They will be nearly identical. I’m just having two in case anyone is unavailable either night. I’ll send out a survey soon to see who can come when. If, by some miracle, everyone is available on the same night, I’ll just have one! Those two meetings are scheduled for 6:30 pm on Wednesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 9. If you are unavailable both nights, please let me know. Here is a link to the survey. Hopefully the settings are correct. If you are one of the first to try, and you see I’ve neglected a setting, please email me. (I often seem to leave out one step!)
Past meetings I was planning to include in this update a recap of some of what we discussed at recent student meetings. I will have to put that off for now. I may try another update tomorrow just for that.
