CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – May 7, 2024

407 JOURS!

Bonjour! I don’t have a lot to mention - things will definitely pick up next fall. In the meantime, here’s one thing it’s not too early to discuss: Passports .

If you don’t have a passport you will need to apply for one. There is no immediate rush, but you don’t want to wait too long. The process could take up to twelve weeks to complete. It’s not too early to begin the process now. Please go here to see what you need to do, to see the rates and to apply or renew online.

If you are 16 years of age or older, your passport is valid for ten years. If you are under 16 years of age, your passport is valid for five years. If you will turn 16 in the next few months, it’s not a bad idea to wait until your 16th birthday to apply in order to get in on the “10-year deal”. If your 16th birthday is mid-February or later, waiting longer sounds risky to me.

If you already have a passport, that’s great! You are probably all set. But we do want to be sure. Please check the expiration date. If the expiration date is at least six months later than our scheduled return date of July 3 (that would be February 3, 2026), you’re all set. If your passport will expire prior to February 3, 2026, please renew.

Once you have your passport I need you to do two things.
1. Log on to your EF account. You will need to enter your passport information.
2. Bring your passport in one day so I can make a photocopy of it. I will keep a few copies of everyone’s passport for various reasons. If you prefer to scan your passport and email that to me, that works! Bringing in a paper copy is less helpful though.

Please go here to see the full page of passport information EF offers.

C’est tout / that’s all! Merci!
