CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – April 10 , 2025

Bonjour! In this update I have a few miscellaneous items.
Train money In the most recent update I mentioned $72 for the train on June 28. Just a quick reminder that if I have that money by tomorrow, I can book the train that day or soon thereafter. To pay me, you can either use Venmo (@Robert-Hall-191), or write a check to Robert Hall. I could also accept cash.
Other costs I have done some preliminary calculations. I am not asking for this money yet. I can wait until May. These are estimates. Plus, I am looking into donations. I will calculate the overall total. If we get any donations, I will subtract that amount from the overall total and re-divide. So these figures may change.
tips This figure is definite. We will give tips to our EF Tour Director, our bus driver from Paris to Cholet, our bus driver(s) during the EF tour, and to our tour guides. The total for all of these will be $80. When the time comes, you will pay that to me (check, cash or Venmo).
Bus from Paris to Cholet This exact total is not yet known. We (with the assistance of my counterpart in Cholet, Sandrine Bellanger) are working on that. We have an estimate of $100. When the time comes, you will make a check to the Fairview School District. They have agreed to take care of the payment and we will reimburse them.
Other activities while in Cholet While in Cholet, we will take various excursions, much like what happens when the Cholet kids come here. As I mentioned in a previous update, the Choletais have often covered much of that and will continue to do so. However we will chip in. I do not know these totals yet. I will update you as soon as I do. When that time comes, we’ll do as we are doing for the train and tips: Your choice of cash, check or Venmo.
Parent Meeting I will schedule a parent meeting for an evening in May. In fact, I may schedule two. They will be identical, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have difficulty finding one night that works for everyone. So I’ll be ready to do the same meeting twice. If you have any items you’d like me to address, I’ll add them to the agenda. It’s likely I will already plan to discuss them, but mentioning them in advance won’t hurt.
Remind / WhatsApp I will create a group on the app Remind for the parents. I’ll use it when we travel to let you know that we have landed safely in Paris (though it may be the middle of the night in Fairview), to update you on our progress on the return trip July 5, and for any other matters that may arise. For the students, I will create a group on WhatsApp. I will also ask all parents for their phone numbers just in case. I will also give mine to all of you if you would like to contact me directly.
Student meetings will continue. In addition to discussing the sites they will see, I will also discuss packing tips, special dietary needs, exchanging money, using credit cards, prescription medications and more. I hope to include those in updates, but I also expect to address some of these at the parent meetings.
