Throughout the book of Ephesians, Paul lets his reader know his position in Christ in the first verse of three of the six chapters. --- apostle of Christ in Ephesians 1:1 --- prisoner of Christ in Ephesians 3:1 --- prisoner for the Lord in Ephesians 4:1 Ephesians is one of the four prison epistles. The other three are Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. Paul did not write to the Ephesians because a problem existed like with the Galatians. He wrote the epistle to instruct the people and to let them know about their spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus an unity with other believers. Paul uses the phrase "in Christ" 30 times in Ephesians and 200 times in all his books. The writer uses the word "together" throughout the book. In Chapter 4, there is a list of the five-fold ministries of Jesus. There are seven "ones" listed in Chapter 4. In order to win the battle with the devil, Paul gives six pieces of armor Christians should put on. This is a metaphor for the armor the Roman soldiers wore who held him captive while under house arrest.
