Knowing the meanings of the following words will help you understand the Book of Romans as you read and study it. It will also help you understand Paul's other books. Your instructor has used the KISS Rule (Keep It Short and Simple) so you can easily understand the meaning of each word.

Study them because there is a quiz on all 20 of the words.

adoption:  God places us into His family

conversion:  the act of a person changing from a sinner to a saint

death: dying to self; a spiritual separation from God

faith:  trust, belief and confidence in God

glorification: the last stage of salvation when we are transformed into the likeness of God.

gospel: the good news of the saving power of Jesus Christ

grace: God's unmerited favor

impartation: the act of God putting in us a new nature by the Holy Spirit

imputation: charging something to a person's account

justification: humans are made acceptable just as if they had not sinned

law: God's commandment

mercy: undeserved kindness of God; God's pity on us

reconciliation: the act of making friends again

redemption: deliverance by payment of a price

regeneration:  the spiritual change brought about in a person's life by an act of God

righteousness: holy and upright living according to God's standards

salvation: accepting Jesus Christian as your Savior and Lord

sanctification:  being consecrated and set apart from the world of sin

sin: transgression, trespass, iniquity; going against God's will either by omission or commission

wrath of God:  the flip side of God's love; God's judgment
