The first section of the Bible is called the Pentateuch or the Law consisting of the first five books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The section of the Bible consists of 12 books called the Histories. They are: -- Joshua -- Judges -- Ruth -- 1 Samuel -- 2 Samuel -- 1 Kings -- 2 Kings -- 1 Chronicles -- 2 Chronicles -- Ezra -- Nehemiah -- Esther These books are easy to understand because they are all connected in continuing the history of Israel. You will find that some information is duplicated, especially in the two-part books. Remember, the Old Testament has 39 books. If a student completed the 5 books of the Law and these 12 books, he will be well on the way to completing half of the Old Testament.
