The Choosing of the Seven Acts 6:1-7 By this time, more and more people were being added to the church. The Greek, Hellenistic or Grecian Jews complained that the Hebrew or Hebraic Jews were getting all the attention. The Grecian Jews thought their widows were being overlooked especially when it came to the distribution of food. To take care of their complaint, the apostles gathered everyone together and admitted that it would be wrong to neglect the word of God to wait on tables. A decision was made to choose seven men from among themselves to wait on tables and distribute food to all. Notice the qualifications that these men had to possess. This proposal pleased the whole group and Stephen was chosen along with six others. Questions 1. Why was there a need for seven to be chosen? 2. What was the major complaint from the Grecian Jews? 3. List the qualifications of the seven. 4. List the seven who were chosen. Stephen Seized Acts 6:8-15 Opposition arose against Stephen who was full of God’s grace and power.
