Jeremiah - The Man
Like Isaiah, Jeremiah is one of the four major prophets. They are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel.

Jeremiah prophesied about a century after Isaiah. The two prophets were very different. Isaiah was a loud, impetuous, and a fearless prophet. Jeremiah was quiet and reserved. Isaiah was an extrovert and was an introvert. Isaiah was more optimistic and full of enthusiasm. Jeremiah was pessimistic and felt unworthy to do God's work. God had to calm down Isaiah, but He had to stir up Jeremiah quite a bit. Jeremiah suffered during his ministry. In fact, he wrote the entire book of Lamentations about how he suffered even at the hands of his own family. God commanded Jeremiah not to marry, but Isaiah was allowed to marry and he and his wife had three sons.

Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet and the prophet of the broken heart. He is the writer of the Book of Jeremiah in which he predicted the destruction of Jerusalem. He was also the writer of the Book of Lamentations where he wept throughout the book over the destruction of Jerusalem.

The Book of Jeremiah is basically biographical. Unlike the other prophets, Jeremiah writes mostly about his personal history. He wants readers of his book to know exactly what extent he went through to serve the living God. More is known about Jeremiah than any of the four major prophets or the 12 minor prophets.

You learn a lot about the prophet from the very first verse in the book as well as throughout the rest of the book.
