The Way of Life Spiritual Development Center

Ezekiel is supernaturally transferred from Babylon to Jerusalem where he sees the glory of God defiled. He traveled back to Jerusalem (8:3-11:24). Keep in mind that Ezekiel is not physically in Jerusalem. Instead, God is showing him what is happening there where Jeremiah is prophesying.

CHAPTER 8
The glory of God is defiled in the city of Jerusalem. Ezekiel sees God's holiness mocked and blasphemed on four occasions.

--1.  People worshipped a large idol near the altar gate in the temple entrance.
--2.  Seventy elders burned incense to the devilish image in the temple.
--3.  Some women were weeping for the false God Tammuz.
--4.  Twenty-five men worshipped the sun.

CHAPTER 9
God orders the people to be marked. He ordered six men to put a mark on the forehead of godly individuals. Anothe group of men were ordered to kill all those with unmarked foreheads starting with the seventy elders.

CHAPTER 10
The four cherubim seen in Chapter 1 suddenly appear and begin their ministry before God. The temple courtyard glows with the cloud of God's glory. The glory of God hovers over the cherubim.

CHAPTER 11
God gives Ezekiel a note of encouragement to give to the exiles in Babylon. They were to be assured that they would someday return to their home. In the meantime, the glory of God departs from Jerusalem.
