Course Syllabus
Course Title: Engineering Project 1
Course Code: GES 1220
Course Delivery: 4 periods
Course Catalogue Description:
This course intends to provide an understanding of data acquisition and its significance in process control, and their applications in real-life as well as in industries through hands-on practical tasks and projects. The course begins by introducing students to the basic concepts of DAQ and process control by building simple sensor based control systems using the Vernier SensorDAQ interface and Vernier sensors. Towards the end of the course, they are introduced to the various steps involved in planning a project that will be carried out under the course Engineering Project-II.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
Define ‘data acquisition’ and its significance.
Draw the block diagram of a DAQ system
Perform practical tasks using the Vernier SensorDAQ interface and Vernier sensors to collect data from anlaog and digital devices.
Build and test simple sensor-based systems.
Describe the steps required in project planning.
