Colonel Michael R. Johnson served our nation honorably for 30 years. He began his service in the United States Army Reserve and was selected as the 1981 Distinguished Graduate of the Drill Sergeant School. After graduating from East Tennessee State University and earning a commission in the Regular Army in the Active Duty Branch of Armor, Colonel Johnson served as a Tank Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Tank Company Commander, Headquarters Company Commander, Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander, Joint Staff Officer, and Chief of Staff for United States Forces Afghanistan-South. He earned a Master’s degree from Webster University and a second Master’s degree from the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the NATO Service Medal. Colonel Johnson retired from active duty in June of 2010 and returned to his home town of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Sergeant First Class (SFC) John Rosselot is an Ohio native who has called Johnson City home since 1993. He retired from the Army after twenty-two years active service. He served oversees in Germany; his stateside assignments were at Fort Riley, Kansas; Detroit, Michigan as a Recruiter; and in Johnson City as a Recruiting Station Commander.
He graduated from Excellsior College with an Associate’s Degree.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, six awards of the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Ribbon, and three awards of the NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
SFC Rosselot is married and has two adult sons and one adult daughter all of whom graduated from Science Hill. He also has four grandchildren.
SFC Rosselot has been teaching at Science Hill since 1997.
