Welcome to the So Bo Co FCCLA Website!

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year for SoBoCo Eagle FCCLA!

This year promises the potential for many exciting leadership opportunities, trips to meetings, community service projects and attendance or participation in competition events.

Region 4 leadership conference will be held in Wentzville, MO, again this year on October 12. This will be a day away from school to meet with all the schools in our region for a motivational speaker and Region 4 business meeting. Students will see highlights of regional members' trip to National competition.

Also in October, students can plan to attend ACCESS FCCLA at Tan Tar A Resort in Lake Ozark for special leadership training and to learn more about the programs within FCCLA. This is a fun, overnight trip and we'll be looking for volunteer parents to chaperone to keep our student to adult ratio at 4:1.

Students currently enrolled in FACS classes will get a 'leg up' on Star Events this year as class projects will feed into the STAR Events programs and can easily be enhanced and polished in order to be ready for Regional competitions in late January. Any student wishing to compete will need to be a dues paid member by November 1, 2009. STAR Events are a great way to improve your public speaking skills and show off your personal enthusiasm and efforts in projects. Last year we had a student recieve a Gold medal at Regional and Silver medal at State competitions.

Who can join?
Any student, grades 9 -12, who has taken or is currently enrolled in at least a semester long FACS class is eligible to be a member all through high school and beyond. You do not need to be currently enrolled in Mrs. Mohlman's FACS classes to belong, as long as you had one of her classes in the past.

How much are dues?
Dues are $15 for the year. This will cover your National, State, Regional and local affiliations. You are not eligible to attend out of school trips/conferences without paying membership dues. Also, you are responsible for paying for your registration and costs for trips, or earning the money for them through fundraising.

What other costs are there?
Region 4 meeting has cost $5 per person in the past. You are also able to purchase t-shirts (ranging from $10 to $15) at events. ACCESS FCCLA conference usually runs about $90 for room and registration, plus money for shopping and food. STAR Events fees run about $10 per event. State Leadership Conference was $60 per person. No conference is mandatory, but the students who work to attend these have always had a great time and gained lots of knowledge and experiences. Should we decide to attend National Cluster meeting or National FCCLA Conference, those costs will be determined at the time. These two conferences are quite some distance away and travel expenses will have to be determined.

What fundraisers are there?
We are scheduled to have a booth at the Ashland Fall Fest on September 12. We will be selling cookbooks and baked goods, perhaps suckers as well. Also, during the fall we will be having a catalog sales fundraiser to raise money for our leadership conference costs and organization expenses.

Meeting locations and times?
Meetings are held in Room 14 at the high school after school once a month. The day will be determined and posted before September 1st. .
