Previewing a text What are the steps to previewing a text? What are some of the things you need to remember when reading or studying a text? Chapter 5 Review Name the four types of context clues (pg. 148.) Explain how each of them works. -- Be sure you can recognize them because one activity on the test will ask you to find the clue and label it. What does it mean to "get a general sense of a passage?" Explain. Do the review test 3 on page 160-162. After you find the correct answer, LABEL the type of context clue you used. This is the activity that will be on the test. Chapter 6 Define: Main Idea, Central Point, and Topic Sentence. Can all of the above be the same sentence? Are they always the same sentence? Explain in your own words. Practice 4 pg. 187 Find the correct answer. After you find the correct answer, label one answer too specific and the other too general. Review Test 6 pg. 213. Find the correct answer. Chapter 7 Define: Supporting details, major detail, minor details List the opening phrase words that signal major ideas List the addition phrase words that signal major ideas List the example words that signal minor details Practice the cluster/map Review test 1 page 230, page 243, page 245 Do test on 247 If you have time, review the voc. on quia If you have time, look over your quesitons on Of Mice and Men. There will be 50 multiple test questions on the novel and vocabulary. You will need a pen and a pencil. Bring the novel you have been reading this week for the test. You will need to do an activity with it.
