The purpose of this site is to help you get a grip on the most basic, but also perhaps the most difficult concepts in accounting. We'll start with a story, followed by some practice with important accounting terminology, and then review the procedure for analyzing transactions into debit and credit parts. The first thing to remember is this: Forget everything you ever thought you knew and understood about debits and credits. Once you return, you can play some games that will help you remember general accounting terms, and also the correct procedure for analyzing a transaction into debit and credit parts.
You will also find some helpful sites listed toward the bottom of the page. Please take the time to respond to my survey questions there. Finally, when you feel confident, use the Quiz session Log In at the bottom right of this page to test yourself. Type debits & credits into the quiz identification box. After the quiz, you will be given your results, which you may print out. Feel free to email me, or ask any questions directly when you see me.
