WELCOME TO KEYBOARDING 6.



COURSE DESCRIPTION
In Keyboarding, students will learn home-row positioning on the computer keyboard. While technique is primary, development of speed and accuracy is integral to the course. Students are introduced to input and output devices, internet use and safety, copyright laws, basic formatting of documents using word processing and desktop publishing software. Basic file management and appropriate selection of applications will be addressed. Students will also participate in a career focused research project. This class is a prerequisite for Computer Explorations I.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to show PRIDE in their attitudes and work. They must take care of the computer equipment and act in a safe manner in the lab. They must follow the Network Etiquette rules that are listed in the Student Handbook.
GRADING POLICY
Student progress is continually monitored. The following assessments are conducted regularly: - Timed tests and lessons completed - Technique and posture evaluations Grades will be determined as follows: - Daily work/participation: 70% - Projects, tests: 30%


WEEKLY OBJECTIVES
This week the typing lesson requirement is to have typed at least 2 more lessons in Edutyping. It is recommended they practice at home for 10 minutes or so a day if possible. The typing website is www.edutyping.com. License id=jointsd; username=state id #; password=student id #.

SSK. Students need to complete and check off all assignments for the week. They will also complete their Microtype lesson sheets.
