WELCOME TO COMPUTER EXPLORATIONS 1.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
In Computer Explorations I, students will learn basic skills needed for the use of a word processor, spreadsheet, and database including how to edit, format, change, and manipulate documents for a variety of school and personal projects. Emphasis will be placed on real world application of the software presented. A review of internet safety, research strategies, and copyright laws will be integrated into assignments as they apply. This class is a prerequisite for Computer Explorations II.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to show PRIDE in their attitudes and work. They must take care of the computer equipment and act in a safe manner in the lab. They must follow the Network Etiquette rules that are listed in the Student Handbook.
GRADING POLICY
Student progress is continually monitored. The following assessments are conducted regularly: - Assignments relating to Microsoft Applications -Assignments relating to Internet and copyright issues -Typing speed/accuracy review Grades will be determined as follows: - Daily work/participation: 70% - Projects, tests: 30%

WEEKLY OBJECTIVES
This week the typing lesson requirement is to have typed at least 2 more lessons in Edutyping. They can type at home also. The website is www.edutyping.com. The License id=jointsd. Their username is their state id #. Their password is their student id #.

Monday

SSK. Students will show their knowledge of Word. They will work to complete their Newspaper in MS Publisher.

Tuesday

SSK. Students will show their knowledge of Word. They will work to complete their Newspaper in MS Publisher.

Wednesday

SSK. Students will show their knowledge of Word. They will work to complete their Newspaper in MS Publisher.

Thursday

SSK. Students will work to complete the article. They They will work to complete their Newspaper in MS Publisher.

Friday
SSK. Students need to complete and check off all assignments for the week. They will also complete their Microtype lesson sheets.
