We are starting the novel, The Secret Garden, this week. Our goal is to read chapters 1-6 this week and finish it next week. Students will be assigned a book and will be allowed to take it home to practice reading and complete the worksheet that goes with the chapters.
A vocabulary game is available to help students practice the new words they are learning.
Students were given a spelling list on Thursday, July 30th. They have spelling words written 5x each due on Wednesday, August 5th. Our spelling test will always be on Thursday with the next week's list given on Friday.
Our library day is Monday. Students have taken the Star reading test which designates a reading range for them. This will help them find an Accelerated Reader library book. This nine weeks students are working toward a goal of 7 AR points. After they read their book they take a test on our classroom computer. Based on how they answer the question they earn points. Students can also earn points by completing book reviews. They can earn 2 points for each book review.
Students are assigned a handwriting page each morning. If they are unable to finish at school they need to complete it at home.
