Roger was injured in a diving accident six years ago.Now he is paralyzed from the shoulders down.But he can use a computer by the help of technology.Roger can write letters,use the telephone,write and answer e-mails,surf the web and design web pages.How does he do this?
Roger sits in a motorized wheelchair.A black band runs across the top of his head.It contains a device called a head-pointer.This device allows him to control a computer cursor by moving his head.There is also a small microphone attached to the band and this is a voice recognition system.On the wall there is a screen.Using his voice and head-pointer,Roger dictates texts and switches between programs faster than many compyter users.Maybe he is the most productive disabled person in his country.
So with the help of technology,people like Roger can be productive,independent and happy.They can have a normal life.
