Identifying Cause and Effect P1
Every day you are affected by what goes on around you. In order to function in your daily life, you have to understand cause and effect. For example, if you didn't pay your rent every month, you would be evicted from your home. The cause would be not paying the rent. The effect would be eviction. When reading passages, you should ask yourself "What happened?" and "Why did it happen?" When you answer the question "What happened?" you understand the effect. When you answer the question "Why did it happen?" you understand the cause. Your reading will often contain clues that can help you decide what is the cause and what is the effect.
