THE HOTEL THAT IS BUILT EVERY YEAR

Every year a hotel is built. Construction starts in late October, and it goes on for about two months. The hotel is a popular tourist destination, and people come from all over the world to visit it. Despite its popularity, people cannot stay in the hotel past April. This is because the hotel exists only temporarily. In April, it disappears. Why would anyone construct a hotel that only exists temporarily? What is going on?
The hotel is constructed every year in Sweden. It is built near a village that lies 120 miles (200 km) inside the Arctic Circle. The village attracted tourists interested in river rafting in the summer, but few tourists chose the village as their destination in the winter. This was because winters inside the Arctic Circle are cold and dark. Everything is covered in snow, and rivers turn to solid ice.
People in the village decided to turn their snow and ice into an asset, or a thing of value. They changed a negative into a positive. They made their snow and ice an asset by constructing a hotel composed entirely of the frozen matter. The hotel contains single rooms and suites. A suite is a series of connected rooms. The hotel contains a large reception area where people can meet. There is also a chapel, bar, and art gallery.
The entire hotel, including all its furnishings, is formed from about 30,000 tons of snow and 1,200 tons of ice. Chairs and couches in the reception area are composed of ice.
