Parentheses
RULES OF PARENTHESES: Rule 1. Parentheses are used to enclose words that interrupt the thought of the sentence. The words in the parentheses usually explain or add to the sentence. Rule 2. Parentheses are used to enclose references to dates, numbers, or chapters. Rule 3. Periods go inside parentheses only if an entire sentence is inside the parentheses.
