Could you play basketball without using your hands? Bet you couldn't! Would you believe it has been done?

A thousand years ago, people in Mexico were playing a kind of basketball. Each team tried to get the ball through a small stone ring. The ring was a little like today's basketball hoop. The players could touch the ball with their knees, elbows and shoulders. No hands!

Playing a "no hands" kind of game made scoring a point very difficult. So, the first team to get the ball through the ring won the game. The final score was always the same, 1-0.

Thousands of people watched these early games. Lots of people go to WATCH basketball games today. Which kind of basketball would you like to play? Which kind would you prefer to watch?
