Leonardo da Vinci - Reading Comprehension
Leonardo da Vinci was an incredible Italian artist and inventor. He was born on April 15, 1452 in the small town of Vinci, in Tuscany, Italy. He was an artist, a writer and a scientist, and he also designed lots of machines. One of the machines was a flying machine. Leonardo studied birds, and he saw how they flew. His machine had big wings, and these wings moved, like a bird. But the machine was very heavy, and it didn’t have an engine. It could not fly.
Leonardo invented a special kind of writing style. He used to start writing at the right side of the page and then moved to the left. Some people suspect that did this because he did not want others to steal his ideas.
Although Leonardo da Vinci created wonderful works of art, he left many paintings incomplete. He is considered one of the greatest painters of all times and perhaps the most talented person ever to have lived. His most famous work is the Mona Lisa, which is the top attraction of visitors to the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
