Prefix and Suffix
The words attached to the root word. These attachments often change the meaning or parts of speech. For example the root word -govern. Govern is a verb; but if we add the suffix -ment, it makes government, which is a noun. If we add the prefix -pro, this means for or with. Thus, giving us a new word that means 'with the government'. Sentence: My father is pro-government.
