11.4 Correcting Sentences by Adding Commas

Directions: Write each sentence, adding commas where needed. Use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste to save time and effort.

Note: As covered at the Revere Writing Lab, use commas to separate items in a series. Sometimes writers will omit the comma before the conjunction, but since having a comma there is never wrong--and sometimes omitting the comma IS wrong--some writers prefer to have a comma there always. Follow your teacher's instructions on this point--and Ms. Haynam teaches putting the comma before the conjunction! If you're going to omit the comma with other teachers, it's a wise move to ask to what philosophy those teachers ascribe.
