Fifth Grade Grammar Review - QUIZ #6 - Kinds of Sentences
Classify each sentence as declarative, imperative, interrogative, or exclamatory.
There are four kinds of sentences.
A declarative sentence is a statement. It tells about something. A declarative sentence always ends with a period. (example: I have an older brother and a younger sister.)
An interrogative sentence is a question. It asks something. An interrogative sentence always ends with a question mark. (example: How tall are you?)
An imperative sentence is a command. It makes a request or tells someone to do something. An imperative sentence usually ends with a period. (example: Read the first chapter by next week.)
An exclamatory sentence is like a statement, but it shows surprise or strong feeling. An exclamatory sentence always ends with an exclamation mark. (example: Some whales are over ninety feet long!)
