Remember that the tense used in a subjunctive clause follows a rule called the "sequence of tenses":
Primary: If the indicative or introducing verb is present, future, or future perfect the subjunctive verb will be present (incomplete action) or perfect (complete action).
Secondary: If the indicative or introductory verb is imperfect, perfect, or pluplerfect the subjunctive verb will be imperfect (incomplete) or pluplerfect (complete).
