Protein Synthesis Practice

Learning Targets:
I can:
1. Compare and Contrast DNA and RNA in terms of their organic molecule classification, monomers, polymer structure, nitrogen bases and sugars.
2. Differentiate between the three types of RNA (mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA) in terms of their structure and function in the central dogma.
4. Describe transcription in terms of the enzymes involved, starting materials, ending product, and location of the process.
6. Describe translation in terms of the starting materials, the role of RNA, the location of the process, and the ending product.
8. Transcribe and translate a given piece of DNA in terms of correct base pairing, recognizing start and stop codons, and using an amino acid table to determine the resulting polypeptide sequence.
9. Describe the relationship between DNA, genes, and chromosomes.
