3rd Qtr Physician 2016 Joint Surg Case Study #1
Aetna Commercial Total Knee Arthroplasty-CPT 27447 62 year old male presented with left knee pain of many years duration and has documented office visits from 1 year ago and every 2-3 months since then. Physical examination revealed left knee joint effusion with restricted ROM and crepitation and joint line tenderness with a mild varus deformity. Treatment has included physical therapy, medications and cortisone injections over the course of the last 12 months with only temporary relief. Xrays were performed at the office with a transcription reading “bilateral knee DJD”. The official report suggested moderate medial joint compartment degenerative changes and mild lateral and patellofemeral compartment degenerative changes. A request was made for Left total knee arthroplasty.
